Peaceful location, this looks & feels like a conference type of hotel, nice appointments for the price. Excellent staff, nice food

The hotel was lovely, staff friendly and food good, the room was large and comfy. There was a power cut which was local and not your fault which disabled the shower the following morning, I was up early and couldn't have a shower, this was not a huge issue and as mentioned, not their fault, however they still apologised and gave me a bottle of wine, not really needed and I didn't ask but welcomed of course!

I wouldn't stay at your hotel again due to the cost, the room price was fair and the food was nice, if slightly over priced but the breakfast was £15 per person. I would only have a couple of slices of toast & a coffee yet it was still £15!! I was forced to eat elsewhere which is less than convenient when on a tight schedule in the morning. This is the reason I would not stay with you again, although I did like the hotel, location, staff, room & food, i couldn't justify this when there is plenty more to choose from. It is a personal thing as it is the only meal which I need to arrange so to speak due to time restraints in the morning and to need to mess about for something so simple because I could not justify this expense is not worth it..

Great place for peace and solitude.

City Centre drop/station fare is £15 each way

We arrived late afternoon after a long business meeting.we were greated well and went to our rooms at extreme ends of hotel. My colleague was happy because he had a suite. The rooms were clean and reasonably comfortable. The bathroom in my room was very dated a looked like it needed an overhaul. I went down to the bar to meet my colleague to do some work for a meeting the following day. I wanted to buy some cigarettes and the hotel did not sell any and the girl behind the bar directed me to the services on the M4. Luckily I knew the area better. Upon returning to the hotel I even further disappointed because we could not pick up wireless internet in the bar or anywhere in the hotel. We decided to eat in the restaurant and then go my colleagues room to carry on working. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the service was warm and friendly. We then went back to my colleagues room to finish working but struck out again with the internet connection. One of my frustrations with hotels as a business person is not being able to use internet services. At 11:30pm we decided we needed a drink to keep us going - the mini bar was empty so we headed down to the bar which was closed. We then had to grab the guy off reception so he could serve us the soft drinks that we required. At 2am we finished working and I headed back to my own room where I had a comfortable sleep and woke up to a wonderful view of the lake and unfortunately a not so wonderful view of my colleague looking out of his window at the other end of the hotel in the nude!! Our stay was ok and could have been improved with better internet provision.

Really good alternative to Travelodge etc. Nice location next to lake and all rooms get a nice view (and I think all have a balcony). Plenty of parking and well out of the way of Reading traffic chaos. Quiet, with good-sized rooms and friendly staff. Excellent value if you book ahead.

Bar prices were a bit steep and they wanted just under £16 per breakfast, which is an outrage but you can do your own thing instead.

Staff were a1 as always, room very clean and nothing was too much trouble.

You may need to watch the satnav very carefully to find it.

It was lovely opening the french doors in the morning to the lake and the wildlife. (mainly birds).

Free internet access in the room.

The room was quite stuffy, as no air conditioning and the window only opened a few inches. The verandahs, which although great to be on the lake, really need to be overhauled as they are looking very tired. Very few channels on the TV.

      Great value for money. .

One critism would be the condition of the lake which resembled a mucky bog rather than a lake.

      The lake view

The bathroom fittings were old and shabby, and the shower was poor

It's no wonder Copthorne sold this - its a very substandard hotel. My room was very big with a view over a lake but it smelt of damp, the bed linen was creased and smelt of damp too, the phone didn't work, no ironing facilities, bathroom reminded me of something from the drab 70's and overall - what a poor experience. I had this room for £117 instead of £150+ - quite frankly, I would have refused payment if it was for the larger amount. Even so, £117 was alot, more like £17 standard.
